THE ADVENTURES OF J.S. BOX

ONE CARDBOARD BOX • A WORLD OF IMAGINATION

WHEN IS A BOX NOT A BOX?

When we agree it is more.

It starts with a cardboard box.

Before long, it’s a horse. A train. A magician’s stage. A cuckoo clock. A hot-air balloon. A rocket. And eventually, a rather angry robot.

The Adventures of J.S. Box combines original music, physical comedy, storytelling and audience imagination to explore the extraordinary possibilities hidden inside ordinary things.

Give yourself permission to play.

ONE BOX. MANY ADVENTURES.

THINGS CAN CHANGE WHEN YOU DECIDE TO SEE THEM DIFFERENTLY.

J.S. Box doesn’t stay a box for long.

With a fold here, a flap there and a little imagination, an ordinary piece of cardboard can take us almost anywhere.

IMAGINATION IS THE SPECIAL EFFECT

THE CARDBOARD ISN’T TRYING TO FOOL ANYONE.

You can see the folds. The tape. The flaps. Sometimes you can even see how the trick works.

That’s the point.

J.S. Box doesn’t ask an audience to believe that a cardboard box really is a horse, a train or a rocket. It asks them to agree to imagine that it is.

And once we agree to play, an ordinary box can take us on many adventures.

Go home and play.

FROM SYMPHONY TO STAGE

A SHOW BUILT TO TRAVEL

The Adventures of J.S. Box began on the symphony stage, with performances alongside the Regina Symphony Orchestra and Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.

Now J.S. Box is stepping out on his own.

The theatre version keeps the original music, projections, physical comedy and cardboard transformations — reimagined as a touring production for theatres, schools and family audiences.

Same box. Same imagination. Many new adventures.

WHAT'S IN THE BOX?

ORIGINAL MUSIC • PHYSICAL COMEDY • PROJECTIONS • PLAY

A cardboard box becomes a horse, a train, a magician's stage, a cuckoo clock, a hot-air balloon, a rocket — and one rather angry robot.

The transformations happen right in front of the audience. Music and projections help build the world, physical comedy keeps things moving, and the kids become part of the adventure.

Nothing is hidden. Everything is possible.
